Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing a photographer to capture your special memories can be overwhelming and daunting. There are so many options, all with different styles, focuses, experiences and price ranges. I have put together some of the questions many clients ask to help you decide if you would like to book.

  • Yes. Tess’ business is registered and she has business insurance. Tess also holds a valid police clearance and ‘Working with children’ check and her vaccines are up the date . She is an accredited member of the Australia Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP).

  • It depends on the time of the year and also if you have a particular date or day of the week you require. Weekend sessions can book out very quickly. Tess can often be a little more flexible in regards to studio based sessions, as she utilises studio lighting, which means she may be able to fit a last minute session in. Whereas sunrise/sunset sessions often book up quickly, especially during winter. Tess will always try her best to fit everyone in, but to avoid missing out of a date that suits you, it is best to book in as early as possible. Tess recommends booking a maternity session for when you are between 33 to 36 weeks, so you have a nice bump, still feel pretty good and won’t be stressing about being too close to your due date. Newborn bookings are based on your due date. Tess books a limited number of newborns each month. The actual session date isn’t chosen until baby has arrived Earth-side.

  • If you have explored Tess Jasmine Photography’s website, Facebook page or Instagram and have decided you love her style, send an email (hello@tessjasmine.com), a message through the ‘contact me’ page of the website, or a message through her Facebook business page (www.facebook.com/tessjasminephotography). Tess will contact you to chat about your session, date options, outfits, posing and flow of the session.

Once you have booked your date and paid the deposit you will receive a few emails with guides to help you prepare for your session. A welcome email that includes a link to Tess’ ‘Client Only’ page a booking confirmation email that includes an invoice and a contract.

Payment plans can be arranged at time of booking.

A few days closer to your session you will receive a ‘reminder’ email with the details of your session.

  • The deposit is required to be paid within 48hrs of receiving the invoice. Your session is not secure until this fee is received. The Session Fee/Deposit does not include any digital images, products or prints. It secures your session date and time, covers the time of the session and the talent and skills of the photographer.

  • After your session a sneak peek will be shared on social media with in 48 hours of your session.

Images are professional hand edited, individually. Skin is re-touched, bruises, scratches etc are removed.

Your personal online viewing gallery will be ready within 3 to 4 weeks (during peek periods this may extend to 5 weeks) and you will be able to choose your products and digital collections from the comfort of your own home. You are also able to share the gallery link with family so they can also view your images.

You will receive an email outlining how to use the online gallery to select images. Once you have chosen your images and your printed products, it can take between one week to three weeks for your final package to be ready, depending on which printed products you have chosen. During this time you will receive a link that allows you to download the digital images, so you have access to them and do not have to wait for the printed products to return.

  • Newborn babies change and develop so quickly in the first few weeks of their life. When they are first born, and usually for the first 14 days, they are still sleepy and able to bend/curl and be posed into those beautiful, sweet poses. These poses replicate the positions they formed in the womb. As they grow, their ligaments strengthen reducing their ability to curl up and bend. They also become more alert, noticing shades, contrasts and noises, this makes is a little more difficult to get them to sleep.

No matter the age of your baby Tess will still capture all those tiny details such as feet, fingers, lips and nose. The sessions may run slightly differently and posing and wrapping may vary, but the memories and moments will still be beautifully captured.

  • Tess Jasmine Photography offers the option to add on a Maternity Experience when booking a Newborn Experience. You receive 50% off the session fee for the Maternity Session (a saving of $100)

  • Tess Jasmine Photography loves return clients. It means she get to see families grow and their children’s personalities shine through. Return clients receive two complimentary digital images each session they book. Tess also has a VIP program for her return clients in which they will be the first to hear about specials and promotions.

  • No, there is no limit on the number of people involved in each session. There are some terms and conditions that will be discussed, such as a list of the different combinations of family members to ensure no moments are missed, and also an understanding that the time of the session is the same regardless of the number of people.

  • The price of digital images takes into account many elements such as post-production time and skills, professional equipment, experience plus ongoing access and use. Once you have the digital images, you have complete control over what you do with those images. You can print them whenever, however and however often you wish. You can share them with family and friends and have the freedom to post them on social media. The is massive value in digital mediums.

  • Birth is very unpredictable. However, it is such an important and magical event. So, whilst there are always going to be some things that are out of our control, Tess will put as many things in place as possible to capture this incredible experience for you.

One of these things is to employ a ‘back up’ photographer in the event Tess is unable to attend. However, this is simply an option you can choose not to utilise the ‘back up’ if you wish.

Before deciding if you would like Tess to capture your birth, she will arrange to meet up. This allows you to get to know her (and any backup photographer) and see if you feel comfortable having one of them in your birth space. She will chat about your birthing plan, your ‘must have’ shots and also our styles of shooting. If you are happy with everything discussed, we will book your birth in. We will be ‘on call’ in the week prior to your due date, the week of your due date and the week following your due date (if bub hasn’t made an appearance). Any sessions that are booked during this time are informed there is a chance they will be rescheduled if your birth takes place. Tess will discuss the process of notifying the midwives of your choice to have a photographer present and also of notifying her when you go into labour.

Whilst all attempts are made and lots of measures are put in place as possible, keep in mind that there is always the chance, due to unforeseen circumstances and the unpredictable of birth, that Tess are may not be able to attend your birth.
